Tamunoimiebam Gift Cookey, popularly known as Pinqmilz, is an emerging force in the Nigerian music industry. Hailing from the ancient Opobo Kingdom, Pinqmilz’s passion for music began at just 13 years old. With a natural ability to create music without writing it down, he attributes his gift to his father, who was also a musician.

Growing up in a musically inclined household, Pinqmilz found inspiration in his family’s background and personal experiences. His father’s behavior toward him played a significant role in shaping his artistic expression. These emotions and life experiences fuel his music, making it deeply personal and relatable.

When creating music, Pinqmilz starts by reflecting on his emotions and the message he wants to convey. He draws inspiration from various sources—listening to other artists, exploring nature, and even jotting down thoughts. His process involves experimenting with melodies, playing instruments, and using music software to craft a sound that feels authentic. He believes in striking a balance between structure and spontaneity, allowing creativity to flow naturally.

As an entertainer, Pinqmilz has faced challenges such as criticism and self-doubt. Not everyone resonates with his music, and at times, he struggles with meeting his own expectations. However, he stays motivated by remembering why he started—music is about self-expression and connection. With the unwavering support of his mother, he continues to push through obstacles, embracing growth and resilience.

Pinqmilz draws inspiration from some of Nigeria’s biggest stars, including Davido, Wizkid, and Shalipopi, whose energy and style influence his sound. He also admires 1da Banton and Dandizzy for their unique approach to music. While he hasn’t collaborated outside the music industry yet, he’s open to exploring new creative partnerships that could bring fresh perspectives to his work.

Excitement is building as Pinqmilz prepares to release his upcoming EP, ‘Hard Times Don’t Last’, set to drop next month. He believes this project will resonate deeply with listeners, delivering messages of perseverance and hope.
