Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African [/b]Action Congress (AAC), has [b]released the breakdown of his party’s election campaign expenses.
In a statement on Tuesday by the Sowore Political Action Committee (SPAC), the AAC candidate tasked other presidential candidates to make their campaign funding sources and expenses public.
“In line with the best campaign practice and the spirit of accountability as we hold dear in the African Action Congress (AAC), the Sowore Political Action Committee (SPAC) has released the final breakdown of the 2023 presidential election campaign donations, sources of funding and expenditure,” the statement reads.
“Recall that the committee gave monthly updates during the campaign and this is not the first time the committee will be releasing a breakdown such as this.
“In 2019, the AAC candidate also released a complete breakdown of campaign expenses, the first recorded in the history of electioneering campaign in Nigeria’s history.
“The Sowore presidential campaign organisation, then in a novel manner released detailed accounts of money received and spent, which was published on major dailies in the country.”
According to SPAC, over N40 million was generated by the AAC candidate for the campaign while N38 million naira was received as donations, and the candidate provided N1.8m from his personal funds.
Tribunal reportedly sacks LP’s Thaddeus Attah, orders supplementary election in Eti Osa, Lagos state
The Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has annulled the Labour Party (LP) Lawmaker, Thaddeus Attah’s victory as Representative of the Eti Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
The court ordered INEC to conduct a supplementary election in the 32 polling units of Eti-Osa within 90 days.
INEC has also been ordered to withdraw the return certificate issued to Attah and conduct elections in areas where the election wasn’t held on February 25.
To confirm the news the APC candidate, Ibrahim Obanikoro, wrote on his Instagram story that, “The Feb 25 election has just been rightly declared inconclusive and supplementary elections have been ordered by the court. INEC has been ordered to withdraw the return certificate and conduct elections in areas where it didn’t hold on Election Day.”
His colleague from the PDP, Olubankole Wellington also wrote on his Twitter page, “It is possible. Still.”
Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election on Tuesday attended the hearing at the Presidential Election Petition Court PEPC.
He was there to listen as his lawyers adopted their final written address before the Tribunal.
Atiku is challenging the emergence of President Tinubu as the winner of the election. Atiku arrived at the petition court alongside PDP chieftains.
