Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known better by his stage name D’banji, which is a combination of his first name, Dapo, and his surname, Oyebanjo.
D’banji is a Nigerian musician, singer, songwriter, rapper, entrepreneur and television personality.
He has won several music awards including the awards for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, Artist of the year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009, Best International Act; Africa at the 2011 BET awards, and Best Selling African Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards; Evolution award at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
The singer is currently best known internationally for his 2012 summer hit “Oliver Twist”, an up tempo dance fusion of Afro beats and electronic dance music that topped the African charts in 2011 and was a top 10 hit in the UK singles chart in 2012 reaching No. 2 in the UK R&B chart.
As of 2016, D’banji is ranked to be the richest solo musician in Nigeria according to T.I.N Magazine.
The singer’s instrument are vocals and the harmonica, which he learned to play because of his late brother.
Know locally as the “kokomaster”, the singer is a whole vibe.
He recently uploaded a very unique photo of himself on his Instagram account.
It is really one of a kind. In the photo, he can be seen wearing a costume that looks like a mixture of modern day and old era royalty. Many wonder where he got this idea from.
The singer wrote on the picture “caption this”, prompting fans to do just that.
Suffice to say the comments where hilarious as expected.
