We Must Back Fuel Subsidy Removal To Move Forward, Civil Societies Appeal To Nig

Civil Societies Coalition for Fuel Subsidy Removal have appealed to Nigerians to get adapted to the recent removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu and support it as a way of moving the country forward.

The groups say the gains far outweigh the temporary pain, insisting that the era of fuel subsidy payment brought about a setback in Nigerian economy, appealing for support to make the removal stay.

Removal of subsidy on petroleum on Monday, May 29 by President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural President saw the rapid increase of petrol pump price from N95 Naia to N537, a development that has altered the prices of goods and service,

Addressing a news conference in Abuja, which was also the maiden edition since the establishment of the coalition, the Convener, Blessing Oyefeso said the group reached this stand after weighing the pros and cons, as well as the shenanigans of fuel subside removal.

*As a people, we have come to the conclusion to Count the Gains of Fuel Subsidy Removal against the colossal loss and economic retrogressive effect of Fuel Subsidy on Nigeria Economic Emancipation.

“On this note, We the Coalition of Civil Societies Organization lend our voice in support of Fuel Subsidy Removal, haven weight the pros and cons, and the shenanigans that mare Fuel Subsidy Regime“, he said.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to hasten the ongoing stakeholders consultations to roll out the incentives to mitigate the shock from the subsidy removal.

Also speaking, a Co-Convener, Prince Sadjere said fuel subsidy does not benefit the people, noting that its removal is the best way go.

Tolorunju Idowu, a co-converner said Nigeria is in a new era under Bola Tinubu and should be adapted by all.

They urged stakeholders across board to support the development agenda of the country to pave way for national growth.

In other to drive the message home and enhance the subsidy removal campaign, the group will hold a solidarity walk on Monday, 12th June from Unity Fountain by 10:00am with the theme, Walk The Talk, For A Prosperous Nigeria.
